2017 President's Message

Welcome to the Spring, 2017 season and thank you for registering to play baseball/softball with the North Gwinnett Baseball Softball Association (NGBSA)!  We are ready for another season and are excited that you have chosen to be part of our Association.  The NGBSA Board has worked hard to strengthen our organization and to provide a quality experience for your family.  We are pleased to share these recent successes:

1.    We are growing.  The number of baseball and softball players registered for the spring season has increased over previous seasons.  Our aim is to continue growing the number of families served by the NGBSA.

2.    Our finances are improving.  An operating loss in 2015 has been turned around and the NGBSA had a positive cash flow in 2016.  Continuing on this path enables us to invest money back into our program and facilities as we seek to enhance your experience.

3.    Our 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit designation was renewed after a great deal of hard work by our Treasurer.  This will be attractive for those in our community who wish to support our organization through tax-deductible donations.

With teams being drafted recently, you will likely be spending more time at George Pierce Park.  You will notice work being done to improve the pitching mounds and the fields, and there are new distance signs on the outfield fences.

You will see signs of our Rebranding effort as we align our organization with the North Gwinnett name and logo.  First and foremost, NGBSA is a feeder organization for the North Gwinnett High School cluster.  To fulfill this role, we are building loyalty to the NGHS “brand.”  This will build a strong foundation for NGHS and we hope your children can be part of that success beginning with their development with the NGBSA.  Two ways you will immediately recognize the rebranding efforts are:

1.    Field number signs have been installed at each field with the field number and one of two North Gwinnett logos.

2.    Player uniforms will be North Gwinnett rather than MLB teams as in the past.  Jersey colors will be different for each team, and colors will be associated with traditional North Gwinnett colors.  The NG jerseys and spirit wear are likely to be worn off the field as well, such as to school and in our community.

Finally, our Board is developing a list of capital projects for consideration.  This could eventually include new scoreboards, improved batting cages, a new, more user-friendly website and registration system, and many other potential improvements for our park and our Association.  As you can tell, there is much going on and we are glad you have chosen to be part of the NGBSA.  Good luck to everyone as we begin a new season.  Let’s play ball!
