Bulldogs Pound Lee County to Force 2nd Semifinal Game!
The Pee Wee Bulldog Allstars beat previously undefeated Lee County 9 to 3 in the Red Bracket of the DYB State Tourney Wednesday. The Bulldog bats stayed hot, jumping on Lee County for a 5 spot in the top of the 1st inning. Djialon Forbes and Chase Smith led off with walks followed by Eric Biederman’s Tourney record 4th 2 bagger. Kelvin Lopez followed with a hard hit up the middle to plate two runners. P.J. Lynch, Walker Cleveland and Davis Barlow hit consecutive doubles to rattle the Lee County defense.

Lee came back strong in the bottom half of the frame and managed to plate 2 runs, but Bulldog Ace Matt Gordon struck out 2 to keep things in order, raising his tourney strikeout count to 13 in 7 innings of play. In the top of the 2nd, Gordon lead off with a walk and Myles Webster jacked the first pitch he saw over the centerfield fence to push the Bulldog lead 5 runs. Biederman finished the inning with his 2nd double of the game (5 in the tourney) to plate two more Bulldog runners making the score 9 to 2. Lee managed only one more run before Justin Burney came in the 4th and 5th to shut them down and hand Lee County their first loss in Allstar play this season.

The Bulldog batters showed a lot of patience at the plate, drawing 11 walks out of the Lee pitchers in the game. The Dogs managed to put the leadoff runner on base in every inning, but missed opportunities in the 3rd and 4th to run rule Lee, leaving the bases loaded without scoring. Both teams now stand at 4-1 and will face off for the final game in the Red Bracket Thursday at 7 pm. The winner will face Mill Creek, who edged out Collins Hill 1 to 0 to take 1st place in the Red Bracket. The best of 3 Championship Series starts on July 4th.
