MLB.com Article

Blake played at NGBSA through Major, and played travel after that.  Blake is the son of Jimmie and Connie Wood of Suwanee.  Jimmie coached with Lee Newton, and Blake was on Lee's Mets team.  Lee says that everyone knew that Blake was special.

Blake played 4 years for coach Reggie Black at North Gwinnett High School as a pitcher and first baseman.  He also played for the East Cobb Astros in 2002, and an all-Gwinnett County selection in 2003.  He played 3 seasons for Georgia Tech.  In 2006 he was drafted by the Royals as their third-round selection.

If Lee can find an old team picture, we will post it here.

Good luck Blake!
