14u NG Bulldogs Black in County Championship....

posted May 20, 2011, 9:14 AM by NGBSA Communications Director

The 14u North Gwinnett Bulldogs Black have advanced to the GGBL 14u AAA County Championship series. The Championship series is a best 2 of 3 series with game 2 of the series to be played at Cool Ray Field, the home of the Gwinnett Braves. The Bulldogs earned their way into the Championship by completing the regular season 13-1 and securing the number 1 seed in the Tournament. The road to the Championship proved to be not quite so easy. The Dogs lost their first round game in the double elimination tournament to Collins Hill. After battling through the Losers bracket, the Dogs faced the Collins Hill Eagles having to beat the Eagles twice to earn the spot in the Championship. The rematch of game one proved to be an exciting drama filled extra inning game that saw the Dogs prevail in the bottom of the 8th inning 9-8. The deciding game was won by the Dogs 17-3 to move the Dogs to the Championship.

The Bulldogs will play the Peachtree Ridge Lions on:

Saturday, May 21st at 12:00 at Dacula Park

Sunday, May 22nd  at 4:30 at Cool Ray Field

If needed game Mon/Tues at Dacula Park

This is the first North Gwinnett 14u team to reach the finals since the GGBL has started playing the Championship at Cool Ray Field. The game has free admission and should be a lot of fun.

Congratulations to the North Gwinnett Blaze on their undefeated Spring 2010 GYSA season. The 10-U travel team won all 10 of its GYSA games outscoring opponents 153 runs to 38. The Blaze's perfect season also included two shutouts. The season finale was a hard-fought game against the Dacula Falcons, a team whose only loss came in that last game. Go Blaze!

The road to Nationals started in Cherokee County for the North Gwinnett Blaze, where on Sunday, June 6, the team won the Cherokee ASA tournament.
