A Special Announcement from NGBSA regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19)

A Special Announcement from NGBSA regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19)

North Gwinnett Baseball & Softball Association understands that youth baseball is woven into the fabric of life in Georgia for so many families. We are proud to be part of the effort in providing your children and families the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and take in great baseball. To that end, NGBSA supports the efforts of the US Federal Government, the fabulous professionals at the Center for Disease Control (‘CDC’) here in Atlanta, the State of Georgia, and our local counties officials in their efforts to keep kids healthy and strive to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus. In addition, NGBSA is committed to maintaining great sporting events for families and their players to experience each day.
Here’s what NGBSA is doing:

1. Our games are played outside. The nature of the game is such that players don’t have as much physical contact with each other as other sports.

2. Stay home if you develop any symptoms including fever, cough, and shortness of breath and consult with your physicians.

3. We continue to monitor the information, procedures and advice provided by the CDC, the federal, State, and local public health agencies.

We are asking you to observe the following:

1. Wash hands often. Use soap and scrub for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

2. Avoid touching eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.

3. Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

4. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands.

5. Clean or disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

6. Eliminate handshaking. Use a fist bump or elbow bump instead.

7. If you have been asked to quarantine due to your family, school, or professional circumstance, please continue to follow that quarantine protocol for the duration of the recommended time from the CDC.

8. We are asking for your cooperation with two important strategies for preventing the spread of COVID-19 within our baseball community per the CDC guidance:
First, if your child or any member of your household exhibits any symptoms including fever, cough, and shortness of breath, please keep your child at home and access the advice of your family’s physician.
Second, if your travel plans recently included a visit (including flight connection) to any of the countries experiencing a CDC Level Three Warning — currently China, South Korea, Italy, and Iran — please self-quarantine for 14 days in keeping with CDC guidelines for schools/community organizations.
We will keep you up to date with our response to this situation through our website. As always, we appreciate your support, understanding and cooperation. Together we will get through this, and youth baseball will continue to allow our kids the chance to enjoy a game that so many of us treasure.
