New League format

We voted as a board to formally adopt a new set of age groupings and leagues for North Gwinnett Baseball.

Beginning with the Fall 2020 season, we will operate with the following leagues. The age control date is 4/30/2021, so your players age as of that date determines which league they play in

Teeball – 4/5yo: Developmental teeball – no coach pitch

A – 6/7yo: Coach Pitch with tee option after three pitches (old teeball rules)

AA - 8/9yo: Modified kid pitch – one inning of kid pitch with coach pitch after

AAA – 10yo: Kid pitch – regular baseball at age-appropriate distances

Major – 11/12yo: No change – regular baseball at age-appropriate distances

Pony – 13-15yo: No change – regular baseball at age-appropriate distances

Senior – 16-18 (19 if approved via the county COVID plan): No change – regular baseball at age-appropriate distances

We believe these changes make sense for our park and the development of our baseball players. I want to see kids have an opportunity to work on fundamentals, and that means learning to throw and catch and knowing what to do when they get the ball. This format will allow for many more defensive opportunities and hopefully more fun.

If you’ve already registered, there is nothing you need to do; we’ll get you in the correct league. If you have any issues or concerns, please contact me directly.

Get the word out – let’s have a huge fall season!

Best –

Derek Dean
